The Missisquoi Valley School District’s Child Nutrition Program is committed to supporting our
communities during the COVID-19 emergency by providing healthy and well-balanced meals to
children during school closure.
As it has been announced, MVSD schools will be closed beginning on Wednesday, March 18. While schools are closed, currently through April 6th, we prepared to continue to feed our students and any children under the age of 18 in our communities at no cost to students or families. This is being accomplished under the Free Summer Food Service Program and includes breakfast and lunch meals. No application or prior approval is necessary! Menus will follow our basic ‘summer meals’ offerings. Menus will be available on the MVSD website but are subject to change based on participation and product availability.
Meals can be picked up for any children, in any of our MVSD communities, under the age of 18, at any
of the following sites Monday through Friday starting Thursday March 19th and currently through April
Franklin Central School – 7:30-9:30AM (Main Parking Lot)
Highgate Elementary School: 7:30-9:30AM (Main Parking Lot)
Swanton Central School: 7:30-9:30AM (Fourth Street Parking Lot)
Missisquoi Valley Union Middle/High School: 7:30-9:30AM (Main Parking Lot)
With the support of our bus companies, we are also delivering meals along bus routes in Franklin,
Highgate and Swanton Monday through Friday during this time. You do not need to be a typical “bus
rider” or student of one of our schools to access these meals. Meals can be picked up for any child
under the age 18 in one of these communities.
The bus delivery will be once a day Monday through Friday. Someone must come out and meet the bus
at the bus stop. Maps of bus routes can be found on the MVSD website, https://www.mvsdschools.org
under the COVID-19 Resources section. If you are not there when the bus arrives, a meal cannot be left.
Deliveries will begin at 8:00AM and continue along the routes until completed. Breakfast and lunch
meals can be picked up. On Friday, meals can also be picked up for Saturday and Sunday consumption.
Meals are being prepared in a safe and sanitary environment and will be packaged in paper bags or
meal service containers.
